Open Doors- First Influencer Trip Recap!
Seaside, Florida was my home for the past week and to say it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL just wouldn’t do it justice. I traveled there on an invite from my Red Dress Boutique (@shopreddress) family and met up with some of top, most influential fashion bloggers in the game right now!
You might ask- Well, what were you doing there, girl?? Don’t worry, I asked the same thing.
I model fashion clothes. Yes. But, as you can see, I don’t really blog about or sell clothes via social media full-time. When I heard about some of the women that would be there and looked up who they were, I legit thought there’s no way I’m supposed to be on that trip.
During our first night at dinner, we were all talking and getting to know one another and as I looked around the table, I couldn’t help but ask myself, “Girl. What are you doing here?” I later had a conversation with the owner of Red Dress- Diana Harbour who said, and these were her exact words,
“Everyone on this trip was strategically handpicked to come. You being here is no accident. Every person at this table is supposed to be here.”
MIND. BLOWN. Also, insert real tears at this moment.
What she said resonated with me throughout the entire trip and those words will continue to ring in my thoughts as God opens more doors in my life.
It truly solidified the notion that- what God has for you, is indeed FOR. YOU.
He is the author of your life and truly wants what’s best for you. He will close doors to protect you and, at the right time, open new doors to elevate you.
It doesn’t matter what others may think. What do you know to be true? If God said it, believe it!
When I was journaling about this, it led me to question, “Well, what does God think about me?” & “Will He truly open more doors in my life at the right time?”
Psalm 139: 16- 17 says, “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God, They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me.”
Our human brains couldn’t even fathom how much we truly mean to God. I find comfort in knowing that even though I may not have all the answers or “connections”, He does.
I had to just make up in my mind, by faith, that God does have a plan for me and that He will open the right doors in my life at the right time. I’m not going to complain. I’m no longer going to believe the lies of the enemy that says, “you’ll never amount to anything”, “your life is over”, “you’re not qualified to be here”, etc. I’ve learned to fight back when those thoughts come and remind myself of what’s true!
My Bible tells me that the Lord laid out every single day of my life before I was even in my mother’s womb. It tells me that He has a plan for me- to prosper me and not to harm me, to give me a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29: 11).
If you’re struggling with trusting that God will open doors in your life at the right time, you are not alone. We all, at some point in life, face ‘uncertain seasons’.
In my latest YouTube video (linked below) I share how, just this year- beginning of 2019, I felt defeated in so many areas of my life. God was most definitely closing some doors and I could not understand why. Things seemed to be falling apart.
In hindsight, as I look back over those moments, I realize that those closed doors were an opportunity for me to draw closer to Jesus. They were preparing me for what was to come!
The chance to work with Red Dress came at just the right time. The Influencer Trip came at just the right time. The doors that God opens always happen at just the right time.
God has no favorites, though and there’s nothing that I’ve done to deserve more than anyone else. Each of us have a specific plan for our lives and God has not forgotten about any person.
But, will you trust Him?
When it looks like everything is going wrong...when it seems like you’ve been overlooked...when it seems like you’ve “missed your opportunity”.....
Will you trust God to fulfill His promises over your life?
Instead of focusing on when the doors will open, focus on who has the power to open them. A changed perspective will change your life!
